Proposals

Local Considerations

The proposed development has been carefully designed to respond to the site's prominent corner position and surrounding townscape. The building is designed to respond appropriately to the different scales and character of Bromley Road and Crescent Road, and includes a stepped roofline and carefully articulated elevations to create a high-quality architectural presence whilst blending into the local built area. Crucially, the proposed building’s will be set further back from neighbours compared to the existing building.

Why redevelopment?

The current building on the site is no longer suitable for the requirements of the modern social care sector. It already has an established planning use for sheltered accommodation for the elderly but currently stands vacant. The current footprint cannot incorporate the specialist amenity provision and accessibility facilities that prospective residents require.

Our proposals would deliver a high-quality, purpose-built replacement to meet the needs for new accommodation and facilities whilst blending into and complementing the local area.

Design and Material Palette

Our proposed material palette will include clay roof tiling, stone banding, yellow-toned brickwork and detailing bricks. We have carefully designed the materiality of the proposed development matches that of the surrounding area and so is in keeping with the surrounding context whilst featuring materials of a high architectural quality.

Neighbourhood Context

We have carefully considered the neighbourhood context when designing the new care home, prioritising attractive, high-quality design that contributes to local appeal.

Crucially, the proposed building’s will be set further back from neighbours compared to the existing building.
